What is Fringe?
Whangārei Fringe is a two-week multidisciplinary festival of weird and wonderful creativity! Theatre, circus, art, digital technology, music, poetry, cabaret, fashion, drag and more - anything and everything goes. This festival is run by creatives, for creatives. We work hard to keep costs minimal for artists: registration fees and venue costs are low, all income from ticket sales goes directly to the artists, and we provide technical support and mentoring. Whangārei Fringe also encourages artists to keep ticket prices low, so their shows are accessible to wider audiences. Are you ready? Let’s get weird!
When is Fringe?
With much sadness, the Whangārei Fringe Festival team announces the cancellation of the 2021 festival, due to be held at multiple Whangārei venues from October 1 to 17.
We’ve set our dates for next year, again to coincide with the school holidays. Next year’s Whangārei Fringe Festival is scheduled to run from Friday 30 September until Sunday 16 October, 2022.
